Car ADAS Solutions Announces New Licensee Location in Honolulu, ADAS Calibrations of Hawaii

Car ADAS Solutions is excited to announce the opening of ADAS Calibrations of Hawaii, a new licensee location at 140 Puuhale Road in Honolulu, HI. The calibration center officially opened in February 2026 and is operated by Gerard AhQuin, a 20-year automotive industry veteran, alongside Fox Kajiwara, lead calibration technician.

AhQuin and Kajiwara bring complementary skill sets to the operation. AhQuin’s two decades in the automotive industry span mechanical repair and collision work, giving him a thorough understanding of how modern vehicles are built and repaired. Kajiwara, whose background is in molecular biology, was brought on specifically for his advanced computer aptitude, a quality the team considers essential as calibration work grows increasingly software-driven.

“Gone are the days of fixing it with a hammer,” AhQuin said. “You have to understand computer systems, how these things work, and how precise everything has to be.”

That standard of precision is reflected in how the facility was built. Before a single vehicle came through the door, the team worked through the specific physical requirements a proper calibration environment demands. That meant grinding and planing the shop floor to meet strict levelness specifications, installing controlled lighting, and configuring the space to OEM calibration standards.

Floor levelness was formally certified before operations began. AhQuin noted that the process was eye-opening, even for someone with decades of shop experience. A calibration center is a different undertaking entirely, and Car ADAS provided the roadmap to do it correctly.

“We didn’t come into a space that was already set up,” AhQuin said. “We did it from day one and went through that process to really understand why every single requirement matters.”

Even minor deviations in floor slope or ambient lighting can compromise the accuracy of calibration targets, which directly affects how a vehicle’s safety systems perform on the road. A degree or two of error at the target may seem negligible, but at distance, it can translate into a collision.

The facility is estimated at approximately 3,000 square feet and is equipped with advanced ADAS equipment. The configuration allows the team to perform two simultaneous calibrations at top quality. The location launched with six active OEM software subscriptions covering Nissan, GM, Honda, Toyota, FCA, and Mercedes-Benz, with additional packages in development.

Beyond the physical setup, Car ADAS Solutions provided hands-on training and operational support throughout the launch period. A Car ADAS trainer was on-site during the first week, working directly alongside the team through equipment verification and OEM software training across all six platforms. Dynamic calibration procedures were established, post-calibration test drive routes were verified, and the team was set up with Power BI reporting tools to track shop performance and throughput from day one.

“At Car ADAS Solutions, our mission is to empower our partners with the tools, training, and standards required to perform safe, OEM-compliant calibrations. The team at ADAS Calibrations of Hawaii has set an exceptional standard from day one, demonstrating a true commitment to precision, quality, and operational excellence. Their dedication to doing things the right way is exactly what defines a best-in-class calibration center, and we’re proud to support their continued growth,” said Troy Domstead, Network Manager at Car ADAS Solutions.

“It has been unbelievably streamlined and efficient,” AhQuin said. “I’m extremely impressed with the rollout.” He also credited Car ADAS’s documentation standards as a standout element of the program, noting that the emphasis on photo documentation and step-by-step process verification sets a professional benchmark that the team has fully embraced.

The center closed its first week with a 100% QA score across 11 calibrations performed on 42 vehicles. “When you calibrate a car, you want to make sure it meets a rigorous standard,” Kajiwara said. “Because that car is going on the road and driving next to people you may know.

Looking ahead, ADAS Calibrations of Hawaii is actively building relationships with collision shops across the island. Plans are also underway to extend calibration services to additional locations in order to serve a broader market.

ADAS Glossary

With so many different systems that ADAS encompasses, it can be hard to keep track of them all, especially as ADAS continues to evolve and become more advanced. If you work in collision repair or ADAS calibration, understanding all of the systems and sensors found in modern vehicles makes your job easier. Our ADAS Glossary is a resource that includes all of the different systems and sensors that vehicles use, including concepts like static vs. dynamic calibration and system names like FCW and LDW.
